As an Embedded Software Engineer, responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and test embedded firmware using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers

  • Electronic design and programming of microprocessor/programmable intelligent controller platforms

  • Correct existing and newly discovered issues with software systems

  • Develop and execute unit and functional test

  • Maintain documentation by creating and updating release notes, system specifications, and design documentation

  • Provide software release packages with appropriate release notes and documentation that aid in quality assurance in the testing of the systems

  • Optimize and debug new hardware platforms associated with embedded software

  • Work with engineering teams to provide access to software, system, and documentation to facilitate product testing and release

  • Determine hardware, software, and system requirements for new applications

  • Write architectural and design specifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E) or Computer Science (B.S.C.S.) from a 4-year college or university and 5 years minimum work experience with software development

  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting low-level languages such as C, C++, Python

  • Experience with developing and troubleshooting 8051 and/or ARM-based microprocessors

  • Experience with software compilers and integrated development environments such as Keil, Visual Studio, IAR

  • Experience with source code control, build, and release management

  • Experience with various types of electrical systems including high current MOSFET operation, signal conditioning and sampling, and power supply designs

  • Knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN) design
